Mike is the head of our specialist head and brain injury team. He has been a specialist injury solicitor for almost 30 years. Before joining us in 2001, Mike acted for many major insurance companies, as well as individual claimants, handling thousands of cases. He is a past secretary of his local branch of Headway, the only national charity which caters especially for sufferers of brain injury. He has handled head injury claims varying in value from a few thousand pounds to several million. Among the cases he has successfully concluded in recent years are
- a brain damage claim for a motorist hit by a fire engine on an emergency call not using a siren;
- a young engineer who suffered 22 skull fractures when his head was crushed by heavy machinery;
- a man who suffered a severe penetrating injury to his skull at work.
- Mike is also currently is handling a significant claim for a 19 year old student who was paralysed and suffered serious head injury in a cycling accident.
Oliver handles the head injury team’s Medical Negligence cases. He has extensive experience in dealing with cases on behalf of children who have suffered cerebral palsy at the time of their birth. In recent years he has been involved in a number of multi million pound settlements and estimates that he has helped recover in excess of £15m for clients that have suffered brain injuries. Oliver has worked with some of the country’s leading medical experts and barristers in this complicated area of law. As well as having the knowledge of dealing with the complex issues of liability, Oliver’s attention to detail and wealth of experience in these cases means that he achieves maximum settlements for his clients. Oliver is aware of the importance of making life easier for those who have suffered brain injuries and has assisted families in renovating their existing houses or moving to suitable properties that will suit the needs of their injured children. As well as this Oliver has put in place care regimes for families that require assistance as well as ensuring his clients get the latest technology to make their lives easier. Oliver also has experience in assisting families after the settlement of their cases to include setting up trusts and being involved with Deputyship issues.

James joined Slee Blackwell Solicitors in 2001, qualifying as a solicitor in 2004. James specialises in public liability claims, an area in which he has achieved a number of notable successes. He also is experienced in the niche field of injuries caused by animals.
In 2007 James was awarded Young Solicitor of the Year by his local Law Society. James has also had the honour of being named as Pro-Bono Hero by the Attorney General for his work offering free legal advice to people most in need.
